At the end of the 1800’s Grandma Emily opened the Valdotain “Cantina con Alloggio” in the ancient town of Villeneuve (670 meters above sea level).  Today, five generations later, the Hotel Valdotain offers every modern comfort in a traditional setting: lifts, access-point, television room and reading room as well as a restaurant and bar from where you can relax and admire the Swedish pine trees. Each room is furnished in a style typical of the locality and has a private bathroom, telephone and drink-cooler. The dining area is spacious and is an ideal place for our guests to enjoy banquets and parties. The owners of Hotel Valdotain attend personally to the cuisine with the help of an experienced Chef and both local and Italian specialities are served. Hotel Valdotain is perfectly located to visit the National Park of Grand Paradiso as well as the neighbouring countries of France and Switzerland.

Nature lovers will enjoy a choice of trips through the stunning, unspoilt landscape of this Alpine region. If snow is your preference, we suggest visiting the ski resorts of nearby Pila (10 km), Courmayeur (24 km) and La Thuile (27 km) where downhill skiing is practised. On the other hand, if Nordic skiing or snow walking is what you prefer, the valleys of  Valsavarenche, Rhemes, Cogne and Ferret are well worth visiting and offer both. The village of Villeneuve has many amenities to offer which are especially of interest to families with children. As well as a large natural park and children’s play park, you can try watersports such as rafting, hydrospeed and kayaking. Should you like to try some rock climbing this can be organised with the help of a qualified instructor, alternatively why not make use of the tennis courts, sports centre and swimming pool that are available to visitors of Villeneuve. The region abounds with historic castles and ancient monuments, which can be visited if the weather is not very good. They show the history and culture of the region and offer an alternative day to outdoor activities.
